Addictions

Let's be honest, we all have our vices. One of mine is blogging. As much as some folks out there would like me to, I just can't seem to quit!

Speaking of addictions, by now it should be apparent that Nigel is addicted to trouble. Here's a perfect example.

I'll do my best to get help for the boy, but in the meantime, let me help you to get your dogs addicted to something other than trouble. How does free food sound?

Addiction Foods sent us a great sampler pack a few weeks ago. A quick visit to their website turned up the following:  Addiction Holistic Food is unlike any other. Free from harmful additives and made in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and USA exclusively from Premium Proteins and Game Meats known for their nutritional and hypoallergenic properties, Addiction has amassed a cult following among discerning pet owners seeking the ultimate in Holistic Nutrition.

Sounds good. So how does it taste? We tried their LaPorchetta dry food and a couple of their canned selections. While there was not enough food to do a long term report, the dogs are happy to give two paws up as far as taste is concerned. They simply loved it. And lucky for me, for some reason they did not suffer from a case of the strange food vapors. Bonus.

Our prize for today's giveaway? A two pack of their raw dehydrated foods: Herbed Lamb and Potatoes, and New Zealand Forest Delicacies. These convenient four ounce packages actually make twelve ounces of food when water is added, and the ingredient list is superb - no grains, GMOs, byproducts or fillers. Guilty as Charged

We spent the weekend laughing. Not at anything foolish we pulled off, as is often the case. As we said goodbye to the workweek and settled in to the weekend, there was a knock at the door. The postman dropped off an innocent looking parcel and the dogs immediately took notice. They sniffed at the box, imploring me to drop everything and expose the contents. I caved under the pressure.

Sure enough, it was dog goodies, along with a hilarious surprise. One of Nigel's Facebook lady friends had sent this to us, and enclosed was a little something extra. Let's take a look!

This is what had all of them clamoring to get to the front of the line. Pure, delicious chewy goodness. More than half of this bag is gone, and by the looks I'm getting from the kitchen I'll be likely to distribute the remainder in a hurry.

Next up? The long term hit of the weekend. A plastic bottle wrapped in kitty fur. The crackle of plastic has indicated substantial acquisition and relocation efforts, the Labs swapping possession at least fifty times in the course of a day. Of course, the intended recipient was the eventual victor.

A cat that Nigel can actually love. Words I never thought I would type.

While the dogs busied themselves with these distractions we were doubled over at the dining room table. It would seem that Ms. Athena has Nigel all figured out. Does this sound vaguely familiar?

Of course, the letter enclosed also included an important tool of the trade.

Brilliant. Had we not paused to catch our breath, we might have missed an important, less obvious message...

I can't let him read it. For the greater good of all we'll keep this one a secret. The Labs owe me a debt of gratitude, and for now the house does not echo with the slap of wood on fur, so I think we're safe. I do expect Nigel and the spoon to continue to make regular appearances wherever trouble is to be found.  ;)
